FUNMIG's consortium consists of 51 partners from national waste management organisations (7), different sized and types of research organisations (17), universities (24) and small and medium sized enterprises (3). These contractors come from 15 European countries, including 5 new Member States. In addition, a number of Associated Groups contribute to the overall objectives, especially communicating the project with representatives of public safety interests, namely national regulatory bodies (see below).

Associated groups Member states not represented within the consortium have been invited to nominate one group to be associated to the project at their own cost. The objective of these associated groups is to further broaden the European integration and knowledge transfer. All European national regulatory bodies have also been invited in order to ensure that public safety interests are reflected. Finally, a number of additional research groups with a strong own interest participate as Associated Groups without funding from the project.
